Teen Weight Loss Programs

May 10, 2008

There is no doubt that parents with overweight teenagers
must be continually worrying about their health; these
conditions are now affecting people of increasingly younger
age groups. Overweight teens have problems in class as jokes
are made about their size at a time when they have a great
need for self confidence. Young people are now being
enrolled into teen weight loss programs which help them lose
weight and educate them on the dangers of obesity, their
self image and how others see them.

It is a known fact that overweight people have reduced life
spans and suffer with ill health and other conditions which
are weight related so teens are being taught about the
dangers associated with excess weight. Many overweight
people suffer with many ailments associated with serious
weight gain including:

*Heart problems *Circulatory conditions *Late onset
diabetes *Aching joints

Almost any teen weight loss regime can help lower the
chances of these problems in the future. On the subject of
mental anguish, we can all remember the names that
overweight children got called at school which can cause
problems later in life.

Unfortunately, these names seem to stick with the person all
their life and even if they are successful at controlling
their weight problem, names seem to stay which is another
blow to the persons self image. It is a sad fact that
overweight parents have a tendency to have obese children
but parents have a responsibility for their children’s
health, if not their own. However, this is not just a
problem in the USA as most of the world now has this
situation to a greater or lesser degree and as a consequence
a plethora of diet plans exist; not all of them work as well
as they claim.

Teen weight loss programs to look for are those that promote
the reduction of fat both in the diet and that contained in
the body which also happens to be the key to long term
weight control. The first thing a parent should be aware of
is the tendency to overreact and if this happens the child
will pickup on your concern because becoming overweight did
not happen overnight; likewise the problem is not going to
go away overnight either. Other than carrying out some
research of their own on the subject, a concerned parent
needs to seek medical advice, preferably someone who
specializes in teen weight loss; The first thing to do is
speak to a professional who specializes in teen weight loss
and carry out some research on your own; ]

However, it is important to bear in mind that there is some
danger with teen weight loss programs that rely on a strict
adherence to rapid fat loss. Diets that rely on a dramatic
reduction in food intake are also harmful as the body
requires energy to survive and these weight loss programs
can often cause problems with muscle development. Take a
look, in particular, at reference material on ‘fat loss’
because if your teen can lose the fat, weight loss will be a
much safer automatic sequence.

Productive Weight Loss Plan

May 10, 2008

A rapid weight loss program will require significant changes
in your life if it is to be successful. Attitude and poor
habits are the biggest downfall of all of us and in
particular when someone is dieting; these need to be changed
for a diet to succeed. Just how quickly an individual loses
weigh will depend on many issues; for instance:

*Genetic make-up *Past or present psychological issues
*Desire to lose weight

Overweight people have a number of image and self worth
issues which can seriously affect them. Of all the changes
that happen to a person when they start to regain their old
weight, it is those of being happy with what they are
achieving that is the most pleasing. This is the reason why
so many people want rapid weight loss systems, so they can
start seeing results quickly but they also need support from
family and friends; anyone contemplating this type of
program needs to start eating a healthy diet as well as
taking part in daily physical activity. The diet plan must
be flexible to your tastes other wise it will fail, put
aside at least a quarter of an hour every day to carry out
some form of physical activity like brisk walking, running
or other type of cardiovascular exercise.

Do not worry if your rapid weight loss plan is not producing
results as quickly as you would like; everyone has a
different metabolism and some will see results faster than
others; this is perfectly natural so do not become
despondent. If you are finding that the weight is not being
lost as quickly as it should be then perhaps you will need
to adapt your exercise routine to something that is more
arduous and change part of your diet plan to increase energy
levels. Listen as the body speaks because each and
everyone’s body metabolism reacts differently to the various
fast weight loss programs so try substituting one program
for another to compensate for the body’s reaction.

You would be wise to choose an exercise method that suits
your physical abilities so if all you are able to do is walk
then that is fine; calories are burnt quicker with muscle
that has been converted from fat, even as a result of
walking, but not everyone is suited to vigorous physical
exertion. Drink plenty each day because a great deal of
fluid requires replacing; whether on a rapid weight loss
program or not, don’t forget the benefits of at least six
8oz glasses of water each day because it also flushes out
nasty toxins as well. Even though white meat and fish are
generally good for you, they can contain more fat than is
desirable so stay clear of deep fried foods in general as
they are full of fat that is damaging to your system.

Wherever possible have your food grilled as almost all of
the fat is lost if not all of it so it’s much healthier.
Whilst some diets advocate a reduction in carbohydrates,
this should be done in consultation with a nutritionist as
carbohydrates are the fuel that creates the energy required
for your body to function. Using a weight loss plan like
this will mean that if followed correctly then around a
pound a day will be lost, depending on the individual but it
must be said that failure to maintain this level of 1,000 to
1,500 calories per day will ensure the weight will be put
back on.

Pregnancy And Weight loss

May 10, 2008

Almost all recent mothers will think about how they are going to lose weight after the pregnancy but this shouldn’t be their prime concern after giving birth. This is a situation often made worse by celebrity moms who seem to regain their figures after a mere few short weeks after having a baby. Of course the reasons behind their astounding weight loss after pregnancy is the likes of special clinics, personal trainers and time are never mentioned when publicizing these marvelous feats.

There are things to make weight loss after pregnancy easier but these are not always available to the average new mom for at least the first few months, if at all. More importantly the new mother should focus on the general recovery from giving birth by eating healthily and looking after her child. A diet consisting of a tiny amount of fiber, totaling around 2000 calories is a good common sense starting point; the food she eats should consist of:

*Half as carbohydrates, *Protein (30 percent) *10 percent fats

These percentages leave a little for a few of life’s luxuries which we all need but should not indulge too much in if getting those pounds off is important. Despite the amount of time a mother will spend with her new born baby, she still needs to look after herself to regain her metabolic rate and stamina level she had before the pregnancy so moderate exercise is necessary. The idea is that you look forward to the physical activity and enjoy the feeling when it is complete so moderation is the key, otherwise it will feel like a chore and you will give up.

This can be an excellent way to begin your weight loss after pregnancy but remember that your individual reduction will depend on a number of things one of which is how much you gained whilst you were pregnant. Each and every woman will experience certain physical changes once she has given birth (these too vary between individuals) and those will dictate how easy of difficult getting back in shape is going to be. To achieve the best results when trying to lose weight after pregnancy is to take things steadily by maintaining that diet you started; and continue exercising but keeping an eye on how quickly the weight is coming off as it should be slow but steady.

The ideal situation of reducing body fat and regaining muscle tone after birth will take some time and this is not something that should be rushed. Nevertheless, if you follow the advice here there is no reason why you shouldn’t get your old figure and weight back within a year of giving birth. Getting your figure back is perfectly possible after pregnancy and most women will achieve this but some may find that those last few annoying pounds just won’t go until the breast feeding has ended.
